When I drew Charles, I had a sense that a real portrait of him would be when he was outside. Holding this piece of earth was when he seemed happiest. I wanted to draw him in that moment.
It was so nice to have our class outside. Someone caught me taking a moment away from the group. I shut my eyes, listened to the sounds of the birds and the smell of the earth. Clearly, I don't know my own strength as I broke the trowel when I tried to dig up a clod of earth. Sorry Charles! I love the contrast between the colour of my nails and the soil. Believe it or not, I was a bit of a tomboy when I was growing up and loved to be outdoors. I want to spend more outdoors again.
My Best Learning Experience
"What is the point of education at all, either higher or lower, if it does not address suffering and destruction in the world through showing human beings how to live in peace and harmony with the world, and to cultivate courage and compassion in the face of suffering?" Bai, Cohen & Scott (2013, p6)
These are videos from the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. Mr Hayter, the teacher in my best learning experience used this TV series to teach us about the World War Two.
Yes, they are funny but I think they get the point across when needed.
